About Ojude Oba Atlanta
Our Story
The Ojude Oba Festival began over a century ago in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, as a colorful gathering to honor the traditional ruler—the Awujale of Ijebuland—and celebrate the Yoruba values of unity, loyalty, and respect for culture. Over the years, it has grown into one of the most spectacular cultural festivals in Nigeria, drawing global recognition for its breathtaking horseback processions, traditional regalia, music, and community spirit.
In Atlanta, we proudly carry this tradition into the Nigerian diaspora. What began as a modest community celebration has evolved into one of Georgia’s largest African cultural gatherings, attracting Nigerians, African-Americans, and friends of African heritage from across the United States.
The Ojude Oba Atlanta Festival is more than an event; it is a cultural bridge. It connects Nigerians abroad with their roots, strengthens community identity, and shares the richness of Yoruba culture with the wider world. Through parades, music, dance, fashion, and food, we tell the story of a people deeply rooted in tradition yet vibrant in modern expression.
